World should recognise reality in Afghanistan and Taliban must fulfill promises: PM Imran Khan

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan has urged the world community to recognise the reality in Afghanistan and said that the Taliban must fulfill their promises.

According to media reportsm the Prime Minister has made these remarks while addressing the 20th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Council of Heads of State (SCO-CHS) Summit in Tajikistan’s capital, Dushanbe on Driday. The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry and National Security Adviser Moeed Yusuf were also present alongside him.

On the occasion, PM Imran Khan has said that the war-torn country can not be left on its own. He said the stance of our country has always been the same and that is a peaceful Afghanistan.

The Prime Minister further stated that Pakistan respects the sovereignty of Afghanistan and is of the view that the Afghan people should make their own decisions. He said that Afghanistan faces a humanitarian crisis and the international community must come forward in the time of need, adding that Afghan refugees need protection.

PM Imran Khan has also reminded the international community about Pakistan’s sacrifices in the war against terror and the losses incurred to the economy due to the law and order situation. He said that Pakistan played a key role in terror war and lost over 80,000 lives.

The Prime Minister has said that the Taliban must fulfill the pledges made above all for inclusive political structure where all ethnic groups are represented. He said that this is vital for Afghanistan’s stability.
