Half of the world’s population, the World Health Organization has warned, is susceptible to the mosquito-borne dengue virus.

According to the media reports, the unit head on tropical diseases of WHO, Raman Velayudhan told a UN press briefing in Geneva that WHO recorded an eightfold increase in dengue virus cases between the years 2000-2022.
Raman Velayudhan further stated that dengue is a serious illness, which is most commonly a viral infection spread through the bites of mosquitoes from one person to the other.
