6.5 Million Pakistani passports issued so far in 2023

Director General Passports Pakistan Mustafa Jamal Qazi has said that 6.5 million Pakistani passports have been issued so far in the year 2023.

According to the media reports, Director General Passports Pakistan Mustafa Jamal Qazi made these remarks while talking during the visit to the Karachi Passport Office today (Friday, December 29). He said that the issue of e-passports will become mandatory in Pakistan from the year 2027. All necessary arrangements have been completed in this regard.

DG Passports Jamal Qazi further stated that the work is going on to transfer the current machine-readable passport to an e-passport for which the new system will be installed in the next 6 to 7 months in the year 2027. The e-passport will become mandatory.

While answering a question, he said that a high-level task force is investigating 12,000 Pakistani passports issued to Afghans. He added that the issue of delay in the issuance of Pakistani passports has been resolved. “An ample quantity of lamination paper required for passport printing has been procured after which issuance of passports has resumed,” Director General Passports Pakistan Mustafa Jamal Qazi said.
