CJP Qazi Faez Isa remarked that some tactics seem to be being used so that the elections do not take place.

According to the media reports, the Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa made these remarks during the hearing of a case today (Tuesday, December 02). The Supreme Court of Pakistan heard the Election Commission’s appeal against the suspension of the PK-91 Returning Officer (RO) by the Peshawar High Court (PHC), during which the Election Commission’s lawyer argued that the single bench suspended the RO on December 27 without notifying the ECP.

The PHC did not include any criticism of the new RO in its order, even though the returning officer of Kohat requested a leave of absence due to health concerns. The complainant was asked by the Chief Justice whether they would want to designate a returning officer of their choosing. It appears that some strategies are being employed to prevent elections from happening; one returning officer became unwell, and another was hired. Why don’t we charge you for abruptly canceling the appointment since PHC did so without warning?

According to CJP Qazi Faez Isa, the Peshawar High Court judge did not think it was suitable to issue a notice. What kind of orders are the High Courts issuing? Why is it important, and why are there needless appeals, regardless of the RO? The Election Commission did not behave unlawfully or unconstitutionally, according to the court. They ought to go right into the inspection process. The Election Commission’s appeal against the Peshawar High Court’s ruling was granted.
