The country observed the 143rd birth anniversary of National Poet and Philosopher, Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal with national zeal and fervor today.
According to media reports, ceremony of change of guard was held at mausoleum of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal in Lahore on Monday. Pakistan Navy assumed the responsibility of guard from Pakistan Rangers.
On the occassion, Station Commander of Pakistan Navy Commodore Naimat-ullah Khan was chief guest. He laid floral wreath at the mausoleum and offered prayer.
Commodore Naimat-ullah Khan also penned down his comments in Visitors’ book and paid tribute to the National Poet.
Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar also laid a wreath on the grave of Allama Muhammad Iqbal at Hazoori Bagh and offered Fateha.
Various literary, political, social and cultural organizations have arranged special programmes to pay homage to the national poet and to highlight his life and thoughts.
