The European leaders have congratulated Joe Biden shortly after he was declared the winner in the United States (US) election. They have shared the congratulations messages on the Twitter accounts or in there issued statements.

The Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel praised Joe Biden for his win and Kamala Harris for becoming the US’ first elected female vice president. She said in a statement, “I look forward to future cooperation with President Biden. Our transatlantic friendship is irreplaceable if we are to master the great challenges of our time.”

The Prime Minister of United Kingdom (UK), Boris Johnson congratulated Biden and his running mate, Kamala Harris. He said in a tweet, “The US is our most important ally and I look forward to working closely together on our shared priorities, from climate change to trade and security.”

The President of France, Emmanuel Macron also congratulated the 46th elected US President Joe Biden and vice President Kamala Harris. He tweeted, “The Americans have chosen their President. Congratulations @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris! We have a lot to do to overcome today’s challenges. Let’s work together!”

The Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez said, “We are looking forward to cooperating with you to tackle the challenges ahead of us.”

The Irish Prime Minister, Michael Martin also congratulate Joe Biden on his victory and said, “I also look forward to welcoming him back home when the circumstances allow!”

Except European leaders, other leaders in the world have also congratulated Biden on his victory including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, Canada’s Justin Trudeau, Egypt’s Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Lebanon’s Michel Aoun and Israeli Opposition leader Yair Lapid etc.

It is pertinent to mention here that Joe Biden’s victory is not yet a done deal. The Electoral College must formally present the results of the election to Congress in December, unless Trump concedes before then.

Donald Trump has ruled out concession and said he will challenge the results of the election up to the Supreme Court, claiming Biden’s win was fraudulent.
