FM Qureshi urges United Kingdom to play role for peace in Afghanistan

The Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi has urged the United Kingdom (UK) to play their due role in establishing peace in Afghanistan.

According to media reports, the Foreign Minister has expressed his views while talking to Minister of State for South Asia and the Commonwealth Lord Tariq Ahmad in Islamabad on Wednesday.

On the occasion, Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that the internal situation of Afghanistan has entered into a critical phase due to the withdrawal of foreign troops. He said Pakistan considers establishment of peace in Afghanistan as essential for economic and regional stability and determined to continue its efforts for peace in the region.

The Foreign Minister further stated that Pakistan has great concern about the growing trend of Islamophobia in the world and the world community should work jointly to counter this menace.

During the meeting, both the leaders have also discussed the coronavirus pandemic situation, promotion of bilateral relations and cooperation in different sectors between Pakistan and United Kingdom.

In his remarks, Lord Tariq Ahmad has praised the role of the Pakistani community in the UK and also appreciated Pakistan’s role for bringing peace in the region.
