General Asim Munir says Pakistan made unparalleled sacrifices in fight against terrorism

Army Chief General Asim Munir has said that Pakistan has made unparalleled contributions and sacrifices in its enduring fight against terrorism and will continue to fight till the logical end, in line with the aspirations of the people of Pakistan.

According to the media reports, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir expressed during the interaction with members of prominent US think tanks and media during his visit to the United States. He put across Pakistan’s perspective on regional security, transnational terrorism, and the importance of maintaining strategic stability in South Asia.

According to the Army Chief, Pakistan is a significant nation from a geopolitical and geo-economic standpoint. It aspires to become a hub of connectivity and a gateway to Central Asia and beyond, but it rejects bloc politics and favors maintaining harmonious relations with all friendly nations. He emphasized Pakistan’s goal to establish a long-term, multi-domain partnership to increase bilateral engagement with the US.

Additionally, General Syed Asim Munir emphasized how constructive and forward-looking his discussions with the military and political leadership during his tour to the US have been in terms of further fortifying the alliance. He also emphasized how Pakistan has protected regional stability as well as international peace and security for decades by acting as a bulwark against transnational terrorism.

Regarding the matter of Kashmir, the Chief of Army emphasized the necessity of finding a solution that aligns with the goals of the Kashmiri people and the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council. According to him, Kashmir is a recognized international issue, and against the preferences of the millions of residents, no unilateral action can change the essence of the conflict.

To bring about long-lasting peace in the region, COAS Syed Asim Munir also emphasized the urgent necessity of putting a stop to the suffering in Gaza, delivering humanitarian aid, and putting the two-state solution into action.
