Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan strongly condemned the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran today (Wednesday, July 31).

According to the details, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed his views in a statement on X. He called it “perfidious” and sent his condolences to Palestine and the family of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. Recalling similar attacks on several other Palestinian politicians like Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and Abdel Aziz al-Rantisi, both co-founders of Hamas, he said that this assassination aims to undermine the noble resistance of Gaza and the righteous struggle of Palestinians.

The Palestinian resistance organization reported that Haniyeh died on Wednesday in an Israeli attack in Iran, shocking the whole community. Although numerous nations have cautioned that the fatality will significantly affect attempts to bring about a cease-fire in the Gaza war, Israel has not commented on the incident. Ankara, which has cordial ties with Hamas, charged in a statement that Israel intended to take the conflict in Gaza to a wider regional arena. It was in April that Erdoğan first met Haniyeh in Istanbul.

According to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Israel’s oppression, the massacre in Gaza, and terrorism in our area will stop with a firmer position from the Muslim world and the coalition of mankind. Turkey will keep attempting all avenues, knocking on all doors, and providing Palestinians with all of its resources.

It is pertinent to mention here that since the October attack, Israel has been fighting Hamas, and since then, more than 39,360 Palestinians—mostly women and children—have died and more than 90,900 have been injured.
