IG KP Akhtar Hayat Khan reveals Afghan nationals involved in extortion

IG KP Akhtar Hayat Khan – the Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – has revealed that Afghan nationals are involved in extortion activities in the province.

According to the media reports, IG KP Akhtar Hayat Khan made these remarks while talking to a private news channel in Peshawar today (Friday, October 6). He said that multiple types of groups are involved in extortion activities including those entirely composed of Pakistanis, those entirely made up of Afghans as well as groups that have members from both nationalities.

The Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa further stated that a recently busted Mohmand-based group was one of those that had members from both countries. He said that Afghan sims have also been used in extortion calls.

Regarding action against these groups, IG Akhtar Hayat Khan said that the provincial government is set to create a task force that would take up the matter in accordance with the instructions of the federal government. The government recently issued a November 1 deadline for illegal Afghan refugees to leave the country or face expulsion.
