The reports further stated that the name of Asad Qaiser’s brother Aqibullah was being chosen before Babar Saleem for the Speaker of the KP Assembly. The decision was changed given reservations about Aqibullah’s nomination in the party.

The KP Assembly will elect a new Speaker and Deputy Speaker on February 29, as announced by Speaker Mushtaq Ghani. According to his statement, nomination papers for the positions of Speaker and Deputy Speaker may be filed by today at 5 p.m., and they may be withdrawn until midnight.
