Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were indicted by the accountability court in Rawalpindi in the £190 million reference.

According to the media reports, Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana conducted the hearing at Adiala jail today (Tuesday, February 27) where the PTI founder Imran Khan is currently incarcerated in Toshakhana, cipher, and illegal marriage cases. He read the charge sheet in the presence of PTI Founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the courtroom.

Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi, Deputy Prosecutor for the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), and his team also made an appearance in court. As a result of the purported acquisition of hundreds of canals of land under the name of Al Qadir University Trust, which is said to have cost the exchequer 190 million pounds, the NAB opened an inquiry against Imran Khan, his wife, and other individuals.

The judge declared during the hearing that 58 witnesses’ testimony would be recorded for the case. When laying out the charges against the PTI founder, the court questioned whether or not he was guilty. “Why should I read the charge sheet when I know what’s written in it?” Khan questioned at this point.

Then, Imran Khan and his spouse refuted the accusations made against them. At this juncture, Khan approached the dais and declared that they desired no postponement in this instance. Before February 8, NAB was in a rush; now, we want a speedy conviction.

The PTI founder responded negatively to the judge’s question on whether he had had his teeth examined, stating that he had been informed the doctor would be stopping by the jail on Sunday. According to him, the jail administration has suddenly announced that the doctor will visit the following week. Khan then requested a general practitioner and dentist for a check-up and medical checkup, and the court granted his request.

Subsequently, PTI’s attorney stated that copies of the references must be sent seven days before the indictment and that these records are crucial to the case. He continued, “We have submitted a petition to distribute a copy of the documents.”

The lawyers for Khan and Bushra Bibi will receive access to all witness statements, according to the deputy speaker of the NAB. On March 6, the court delayed the hearing and mandated that the five NAB witnesses show up.
