Mexico Wants to work with Pakistan to promote closer ties: IPU President

The President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi has urged the international community to take notice of Indian oppression and brutalities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the people of Jammu Kashmir are in extreme misery as India has unleashed a reign of terror against the innocent people. The President said that this is a clear violation of United Nations (UN) resolutions.

According to media reports, Dr Arif Alvi has expressed these views while talking to the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Gabriela Cuevas Barron who called on him in Islamabad on Monday. Chairman Senate, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, and Senator Mirza Muhammad Afridi also attended the meeting.

President Alvi expressed the confidence that IPU would play its role to protect the rights of the people of IIOJK.

The IPU President Gabriela Cuevas Barron is also senator for Mexico. She said on the occasion that her country wants to work with Pakistan to promote closer ties in areas of mutual interest.

Both the Presidents emphasized the need to further strengthen bilateral relations in all fields to the mutual benefit of the people of Mexico and Pakistan.

Gabriela Cuevas Barron hoped that the visit of the IPU President to Pakistan would help strengthen parliamentary relations between the Parliament of Pakistan and IPU member parliaments.
