One Water Summit: PM to leave for Saudi Arabia today

Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif – the Prime Minister of Pakistan – will leave for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia today (Tuesday, December 3) on a two-day visit to participate in the One Water Summit in Riyadh.

According to the media reports, the One Water Summit, organized by Saudi Arabia, France, Kazakhstan, and the World Bank, encourages global collaboration and a cohesive international approach to water resource management through high-level political pledges.

At the Summit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will deliver a keynote address at a Roundtable focusing on restoring, preserving, and adapting freshwater resources and wetlands. He will also highlight steps being taken by Pakistan to promote water conservation, strengthen climate resilience, improve water quality, create livelihoods, and conserve biodiversity.

The Prime Minister will emphasize the significance of international cooperation in addressing the effects of climate-induced floods, irregular and extreme weather patterns, and heat stress on water supplies and ecosystems. On the fringes of the Summit, the Prime Minister is anticipated to undertake bilateral meetings and engagements.
