The Pakistan cricket team has whitewashed the South African cricket team and won its first series against Proteas since 2003 by 2-0 with a 95-run victory in the second Test on the fifth and final day.

The 26 years old fast Pakistani bowler Hasan Ali emerged as team’s hero for the Rawalpindi Test as he bundled-up the South African batsmen in the second innings with another fiver-for on Monday.

According to International Cricket Council (ICC), Pakistan moved up on the ICC Test Team Rankings on Monday after winning the South Africa series 2-0 and jumped to No 5 after gaining eight rating points.

The men in the green won the first Test by seven wickets in Karachi.

This 2-0 win is only Pakistan’s second over South Africa in 12 Test series, having lost eight and drawn three. The previous series win of Pakistan over South Africa was in a two-match series at home in 2003.

It is to be mentioned here that South Africa is touring Pakistan for the first time in 14 years. The series between Pakistan and South Africa is the biggest hosted Pakistan side since a deadly 2009 militant attack on Sri Lanka´s squad in Lahore halted international tours.

Pakistan and South Africa will now play three Twenty20 internationals on February 11, 13 and 14, all in Lahore.
