Pakistan reports over 5,000 new Covid19 cases in a single day after 9 months

As the third wave of pandemic intensifies in Pakistan, the virus has claimed 83 more lives in the country and 5,234 new Covid19 positive cases were reported during the last 24 hours.

According to media reports, for the first time in last nine months Pakistan has reported more than 5,000 psoitive cases in a single day. The country had detected 6,604 infections on 19th June 2020.

The positivity rate jumped to 10.43 percent on Friday and the total number coronavirus cases reached at 678,165, while the death toll has reached to 14,613 across the country. However, 607,205 people have recovered from coronavirus so far.

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has announced a complete ban on holding wedding functions to curb the spread of the virus, in areas that have a three-day rolling average of an 8% positivity ratio.

According to NCOC, the Federal government is also considering the prospects of more restrictions on inter-provincial travelling.
