The Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that the PTI wholeheartedly accepts Justice Yahya Afridi as the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP).

According to the details, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan expressed his view while talking to a private news organization. He said that as per the party policy, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf rejects the 26th Amendment but accepts the newly-appointed CJP wholeheartedly. He said that although CJP Yahya Afridi has been appointed as a consequence of the 26th Amendment, the PTI accepts him as the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

Some members of the party’s political committee believed that PTI ought to demand CJP Afridi’s resignation, according to a PTI source. Barrister Gohar rejected it when questioned, stating that no such alternative was being considered. He claimed that just a few days ago, the PTI’s political committee decided to join the Judicial Commission.

Hamid Khan, a senior attorney, and PTI lawmaker, had advised Justice Afridi to wait for his proper turn and to turn down the government’s offer to take over as chief justice early. Hamid stressed that taking the job too soon could harm Afridi’s reputation during a press conference held last week at the Lahore High Court Bar Association. “Yahya Afridi ought to wait for his time to protect his reputation and honor. “The offer from the government is intended to cause rifts within the judiciary,” Hamid had stated.

The Hamid Khan group, which opposes the 26th Constitutional Amendment and has declared plans to start a lawyers’ movement against the amendment and the subsequent appointment of Justice Afridi as the Chief Justice of Pakistan, was predicted by Hamid and many PTI leaders to win the Supreme Court Bar Association election on Wednesday. Instead, the Ahsan Bhoon group, which backs the 26th Constitutional Amendment and Justice Afridi’s appointment as CJP, defeated the Hamid Khan group in the Supreme Court Bar Association election.

The Special Parliamentary Committee was established by the 26th Constitutional Amendment, and the PTI, which had opposed and rejected it, nominated candidates for it but abstained from the committee’s proceedings, which resulted in Justice Yahya being appointed CJP. The PTI political committee reportedly decided to abstain from the appointment process for the new CJP because doing so would require ratifying the 26th Amendment to the Constitution.
