According to the media reports, the captain of the Pakistan women’s football team has signed a contract with the Saudi football club Eastern Flames. Maria Khan will be the first Pakistani female footballer to play professional football in Saudi Arabia.

The news has been confirmed by Saudi Women’s Premier League Club Eastern Flames today (Friday, August 11) and announced on Friday that Pakistan Women’s Football Team captain and midfielder Maria Khan has been signed for this season. Club Eastern Flames further stated that the aim of signing the Pakistani professional footballer is to strengthen the team in the new season of the Saudi Premier League. The club’s player roster also has footballers from Colombia, Algeria, and Morocco, but Eastern Flames won only two matches in the first season of the Saudi Premier League last year.

Maria Khan was elected captain of the Pakistan women’s football team last year, after scoring a free-kick goal against the hosts in a four-nation tournament in Saudi Arabia earlier this year.
