Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan desires Chinese investment in the ML-1 upgradation project.
According to the media reports, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his views regarding the ML-1 upgradation project while talking to the Chairman of China International Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Ambassador Luo Zhaohui who called on him in Beijing today (Thursday, June 6). He emphasized the need for cooperation between Pakistan and China in the fields of agriculture, information technology, blue economy, communication, minerals, and mining.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that the security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan is the priority of the government. He underlined that the governments and the peoples of both countries have always stood in solidarity with each other during times of natural disasters and calamities. He commended CIDCA’s pivotal role in supporting developing countries particularly Pakistan during the Covid-19 pandemic, the post-2022 flood reconstruction, and the grant of polio vaccines.
PM Shehbaz Sharif was grateful for CIDCA’s strong support of CPEC projects, especially the New Gwadar International Airport, the Gwadar Desalination Plant, and the Pakistan-China Friendship Hospital, which all contribute to Pakistan’s socioeconomic development.
Ambassador Luo Zhaohui offered CIDCA’s support to Pakistan in Special Economic Zones and Health Sector.
They described the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as the symbol of unwavering friendship between China and Pakistan and mentioned the successful outcomes of the Joint Working Group on Socioeconomic Development under the CPEC. They also conveyed optimism that the CPEC phase II initiative will keep gaining momentum and improve people’s quality of life.
