The President Dr Arif Alvi has said that Pakistan attached great importance to the mutually beneficial relations with Iraq and wants to further strengthen bilateral relations in the areas of trade, economy and defence.
According to media reports, the President has made these remarks while talking to the visiting Iraqi Defence Delegation, led by Minister of Defence of Iraq, Juma Enad Saadoon, who called on him in Islamabad on Friday.
On the occasion, both the countries have reiterated their desire to further boost bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interests.
Dr. Arif Alvi said Pakistan strongly supported the sovereignty, political unity and territorial integrity of Iraq. He offered training courses for the Iraqi Military personnel in the Defence Training Institutes of Pakistan.
The President also offered that Pakistan could help Iraq in the development of its infrastructure by providing technical assistance and human resource. He emphasized that both countries need to support each other at all International fora.
On the occasion, Minister of Defence of Iraq has said that his country wants to improve economic and political relations with Pakistan. He appreciated the potential of the defence industry of Pakistan and expressed the hope that his visit would boost bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
Juma Enad Saadoon has thanked the Government of Pakistan for extending warm welcome and hospitality to him and members of his delegation.
