Saudi Arabia grants permission to women to register for Haj without male guardian - Editor Times

The women can now register for the annual Haj pilgrimage without a male guardian, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced on Monday.

According to media reports, the announcement has been made by the Saudi Ministry of Haj and Umrah in a tweet. The Ministry said that the women didn’t need to have a male guardian to register and could do so along with other women.

In its registration guidelines issued for this year’s Haj for domestic pilgrims, the Saudi Ministry of Haj and Umrah further stated that hose wishing to perform Haj will have to register individually and women can register without male guardian along with other women.

The Kingdom has made the development days after they announced that the Saudi women can now live on their own without requiring the consent of their father or male guardian after a new legal amendment by Saudi Arabia.

It is to be mentioned here that the Kingdom had granted permission in 2019 to women to travel abroad without approval from a male guardian.
