Senator Rana Maqbool Ahmad passes away in Lahore

Senator Rana Maqbool Ahmad – the senior member of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) – passed away today (Tuesday, September 12) in Lahore after a prolonged illness.

According to the media reports, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani expressed the deepest condolences to his family and prayed for the departed soul. He said that his tremendous compassion as a human being and his dedication to the nation as a senator leave an everlasting legacy. May the immense love and support shown to his family during these trying times bring them comfort.

“For his unshakable commitment to our nation and his excellent character, may Allah, in His boundless kindness, grant Senator Rana Maqbool Ahmad a position in Jannah. His family is in our thoughts and prayers during this trying time,” Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani added.

The President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) and former Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his sorrow and grief at the passing of the party leader. He said that it was a “sad day for the PML-N family”. Maqbool was a close friend and confidant of party leader Nawaz Sharif.

It is important to note that Maqbool Ahmad was a Pakistani politician who served as a senator from March 2018 until today. He was chosen as the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N)’s candidate for the 2018 Senate election in Pakistan. However, following a decision by Pakistan’s Supreme Court, the Race Commission of Pakistan certified all PML-N candidates for the Senate race to be independent. As an independent contender for the general seat from Punjab in the Senate election, he was chosen to serve in Pakistan’s Senate. He received PML-N support during the election and joined the party’s treasury benches after winning. On March 12th, 2018, he was sworn in as a senator.
