The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was declared innocent by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the Ashiana Housing Scandal.

In a report today (Saturday, May 20th), the National Accountability Bureau said that no evidence of corruption was found in the contract of the scheme against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Bureau said that there was no loss to the national kitty nor did Shehbaz Sharif get any financial benefit from the project.

NAB said in its reports that it is proved beyond any doubt that the treasury didn’t suffer any loss. Moreover, it asserted that no evidence of misuse of powers was found against Shehbaz Sharif. The report said that no aspect of malice was proven against PM Shehbaz Sharif in the scandal.

The NAB report further that the brother of former army chief General (retd) Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Kamran Kayani also didn’t cause any damage to the treasury. It said that the Prime Minister had sent Ashiana Housing Scandal to the anti-corruption watchdog as per the law.

“The accountability court should decide on Shehbaz Sharif’s plea for acquittal according to the law,” the report concluded.

It is pertinent to mention here that this is the second major NAB case against PM Shehbaz Sharif in which he was found innocent. Earlier this month, NAB had declared Shehbaz Sharif, his son Hamza Shehbaz and others “innocent” in Rs7 billion references against them for assets beyond means and money laundering filed against them.
