Talks underway b/w govt and TLP to call off march: Rashid says after NSC meeting

The Federal Minister for Interior, Sheikh Rashed Ahmed has said that talks with the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) have so far remained inconclusive, but there is a possibility of more talks today.

According to media reports, the Interior Minister has made these remarks while briefing the media persons in Islamabad on Friday, about the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad, which met to review the situation arising out of closure of roads by the proscribed TLP.

On the occasion, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that the NSC meeting decided to ensure writ of the state and maintain law and order at all costs. He said the government believes in defusing the situation peacefully.

The Interior Minister further syayed that the Rangers have been given powers under Anti-Terrorism Act to assist the civil administration in Punjab. He said Rangers will under the Punjab Government.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan will also take the nation into confidence over the matter,” he added.
