UAE welcomes ousted Afghan president Ashraf Ghani and his family ‘on humanitarian grounds’

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) said that it has welcomed ousted Afghan president Ashraf Ghani and his family into the country.

According to media reports, the UAE on Wednesday Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated this in a statement on Wednesday. The brief statement on the ministry’s website stated that the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation can confirm that the UAE has welcomed Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and his family into the country on humanitarian grounds.

The whereabouts of ousted Afghan president have been the subject of much speculation since he left Afghanistan on Sunday.

The embassy of Afghanistan in Tajikistan made the demand on charges of Ashraf Ghani “stealing from the country’s treasury”, according to Forbes.

According to TOLO News, “The embassy also demanded the arrest of former Afghan National Security Advisor Hamdullah Mohib and Ghani’s Chief Advisor Fazel Mahmood.
