The Special Secretary in the Establishment Division, Wasim Mukhtar is likely to be appointed as the Chairman of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).

According to the media reports, the federal government approved Wasim Mukhtar’s name through the circulation summary. He scored the highest 78 marks in the interview, while Abid Latif Lodhi scored 74 and Kamran Riaz scored 70.

It is pertinent to mention here that Wasim Mukhtar is a Special Secretary in the Establishment Division of the Pakistan Administrative Service. He has also been the MD of PEPCO and Central Power Purchasing Agency.

The reports further stated that the selection committee had named Wasim Mukhtar among the three names for the appointment of Chairman NEPRA, while the remaining two names included former MDCPPA Abid Lodhi and Member NEPRA Sindh Rafiq Shaikh.

It is to be noted here that Tauseef Farooqi has completed his 4-year term as Chairman of NEPRA.
