Jeyhun Bayramov – the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan – has said cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan is extremely important and needs to be enhanced in the areas of economy, trade, and business.

According to the media reports, Azeri Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov – who is on an official visit to Pakistan – has called on Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani in Islamabad today (Thursday, May 31). Pakistan and Azerbaijan have reiterated their commitment to further improve bilateral cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, energy, connectivity, and people-to-people contacts.

The Acting President welcomed the Foreign Minister and stated that Pakistan and Azerbaijan have a long history of close cooperation founded on a common faith and culture. Multan-Sarai in Baku, he claimed, is evidence of the centuries-old ties between the two fraternal nations. To strengthen links between the two countries, he recommended declaring Baku and Multan to be sister cities.

The President emphasized how much room there is for both nations’ trade and business ties to grow. He was pleased with the current state of collaboration between the two friendly nations, pointing out that they share similar viewpoints in several international fora. He also emphasized the need for educational and parliamentary exchanges as well as improving connectivity to bring the two countries further closer. He called for further boosting people-to-people contacts between the two nations, especially in the areas of tourism, business, and education.

The Azeri Foreign Minister said cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan is extremely important and needs to be enhanced in the areas of economy, trade, and business. He said that increased connectivity and people-to-people contacts would help cement bilateral ties.
