The Skipper of Pakistan Cricket Team, Babar Azam has been nominated for the International Cricket Council Men’s ODI ‘Player of the Year’ award.

According to details, the ICC has announced the list of the players for the ODI ‘Player of the Year’ award in a statement on Thursday. The ICC said that the best cricketers nominated by the ICC Men’s ODI ‘Player of the Year’ award include Pakistan’s Babar Azam, Bangladesh’s Shakibul Hassan, South Africa’s Janneman Malan and Ireland’s Paul Stirling.

The Cricket Body further stated that the nominees’ list has a “talismanic all-rounder, two dashing openers, and the top-ranked batter in the 50-over format.

The Pakistani Skipper has played only six matches in 2021. He has scored 405 runs in six matches at an average of 67.50 with two centuries. His best performance this year came in a losing cause in the final ODI against England when he scored close to 50% of the team’s runs.

It is pertinent to mention here that the star batter of Pakistan stands first on the ICC’s ODI and T20 cricket rankings as a batter.

The International Cricket Council Men’s ODI ‘Player of the Year’ will be decided through a ballot by cricket fans and the winner will be announced on January 24.
