FM Qureshi, President Ashraf Ghani discuss bilateral relations and the Afghan peace process

The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi held a meeting with the President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani on the sidelines of Heart of Asia Istanbul Process in Dushanbe on Tuesday.

According to media reports, Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Afghan President discussed matters pertaining to bilateral relations and the Afghan peace process during the meeting.

On the occasion, the Foreign Minister has said that peaceful and stable Afghanistan is in the interest of Pakistan. He also talked about the concerns over soaring incidents of violence in Afghanistan.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that it has been persistent stance of Pakistan that the Afghan issue cannot be resolved through the use of force. Pakistan supports political settlement of Afghan conflict through comprehensive dialogue, he said.

“Pakistan will continue its sincere efforts for regional peace including the Afghan peace process,” FM Qureshi added.

In his remarks, President Ashraf Ghani extended his best wishes for early recovery of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
