JI spokesperson Qaiser Sharif further stated that the council expressed full confidence in Emir Siraj ul Haq. He would continue performing his duties as per the party constitution. He would shortly address the central consultative council’s meeting and hold a press conference later in the day.

The spokesperson further stated that the JI failed to yield better results in the general elections 2024 not because of Siraj but due to rigging. The party rejected the February 8 poll results and demanded the chief election commissioner step down immediately.

Following the JI’s lackluster performance in the general elections held on February 8, Siraj declared his resignation from the party on February 12. The political-religious party’s leader has submitted his resignation, citing an inability to achieve the desired election outcomes. Although the Siraj-led party won five provincial seats, it was unable to secure a single member in the National Assembly.
