Rashid Khan – the star all-rounder cricketer of Afghanistan – received a warm welcome on his return to Kabul after a gap of four years due to his back-to-back engagements in different international cricket tournaments.

According to the media reports, Rashid Khan landed on a private plane at Kabul International Airport, where he was met by the chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and players. He left the nation to participate in several international cricket leagues, such as the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The ACB released pictures and videos of Rashid’s reception at the airport and his meetings with players and senior staff at the board’s offices. When Rashid arrived at the ACB headquarters, it showed a gathering of players showering him with petals and him signing junior players’ T-shirts, who treasured having the magical spinner among them.

Rashid would leave for the United States of America (USA) and the West Indies to play in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on June 1 following a brief stay at home. On May 16, the Afghan squad took a plane to the West Indies, where they are now staying in Saint Kitts and Nevis to attend the camp that is being set up for the upcoming international competition.

On June 3, the team will take on Uganda in their opening game. New Zealand, Namibia, and the West Indies will then play. Twenty countries, split into four groups, will compete in the worldwide competition. Afghanistan is grouped with Papua New Guinea, Uganda, New Zealand, and the West Indies.
