The Caretaker Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi has said that no action can be taken against the President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi till he is on the chair.

Speaking in a program on a private news channel, Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi said that the day President Dr. Arif Alvi tweeted, we had clarified the legal position. He said that as long as the President is in office, no action can be taken against him.

On the occasion, Murtaza Solangi said that the interim government believes in the supremacy of law and constitution and has nothing to do with the arrest of any political party worker. He said the government is determined to ensure the supremacy of the constitution for the proper functioning of democracy in the country.

Information Minister said the government believes in freedom of expression and all political parties have equal rights to speak. He said state institutions are free to take decisions and the interim government would ensure the holding of the upcoming general elections in a transparent manner. He said that it is written in the law that political parties will be given 54 days for campaigning. It is the constitutional responsibility of the Election Commission to conduct fair and transparent elections.
