Pakistan’s Constitution guarantees fundamental rights of women: NA Speaker, Deputy Speaker express resolve to address women’s challenges

The Speaker of National Assembly, Asad Qaiser has said that the protection of women’s rights is top priority of the incumbent government, because it is imperative for formation of a progressive society.

According to media reports, the National Assembly’s Speaker and Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri have have expressed their resolve to address the challenges faced by women in their separate messages on International Women’s Day, being observed today [8th March], to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

The Deputy Speaker has said that Pakistan’s Constitution guarantees fundamental rights of women, including financial security, job, business, education and freedom of choice in their profession, participation in political and social activities.

The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a Covid19 world.”

The International Women’s Day also aims to raise awareness about women’s equality, lobby for accelerated gender parity and raise funds for female-focused charities.
