Priyantha Kumara's widow gets monetary assistance of $100,000

The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Dr Shahbaz Gill said that the widow of Priyantha Kumara has been given $100,000 and the one month’s salary $1,667.

According to details, the Special Assistant has stated this in a statement on social networking website Twitter on Tuesday.

Shahbaz Gill said, “Funds of 100000 US $ and first salary of 1667 US Dollar committed by Rajco Industries for next 10 years and announced by Honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan has been transferred to the account of Widow of deceased Sri Lankan Manager Mr Priyanatha Khumara in Sri Lanka.”

According to media reports, Rajco Industries has sent 17.6 million rupees in monetary assistance and the salary for the month of December 2021 to the widow of Priyantha Kumara. The money has been transferred from the National Bank’s Sialkot District Court branch to a bank account held by Kumara’s widow.

The President of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industries Research Center Company (SCCI), Mian Imran Akbar has said that the organisation was taking appropriate measures to prevent future incidents similar to the one that resulted in Kumara’s lynching.

Mian Imran Akbar has said that foreign employees and businessmen would be protected. He said that it is our responsibility to provide financial assistance to the affected family of the Sri Lankan citizen.

It is to be mentioned here that the Sri Lankan Manager Priyantha Kumara has been killed last year in Sialkot on blasphemy charges.
