PTI Founder Imran Khan was arrested in seven new cases linked to the recent protests of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
According to the media reports, the former Prime Minister and PTI Founder Imran Khan was presented before an anti-terrorism court judge at Adiala jail today (Monday, December 2), where he has been incarcerated for months, after the completion of a six-day physical remand in a separate case pertaining to PTI’s September protests in the garrison town.

The prosecution did not request an extension of the physical remand. The case filed at the New Town police station accuses Khan of sending a call for the demonstration, which resulted in violent occurrences in Rawalpindi. During the hearing, Pindi police arrested the former premier in connection with the more recent PTI protests on October 5 and November 24, as well as a separate case involving the Rawalpindi event. However, the prosecution did not seek physical custody of the high-profile suspect in the new instances either.
At this point, ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah, who was hearing the case, placed Khan on judicial remand in all instances, including the new ones. New complaints have been filed against Khan in various police stations for calling for protests, which resulted in violent occurrences.
It should be mentioned that at least three Rangers troops and two cops were killed in violent battles with PTI demonstrators during the most recent rally in November. The PTI alleges that at least 20 of its members were also slain. The PTI demonstration ended abruptly as authorities started a late-night swoop on party workers and leaders in Islamabad’s D-Chowk. Law enforcement officers also arrested over 1,000 PTI members, including over three dozen Afghan nationals, and seized tear gas and other ammunition.
