The Pakistani spinners have dominated the proceedings of South Africa — who won the toss and batted — on day one of the first Test at the National Stadium after being put into the field.

Pakistan derailed South Africa with three wickets by spinners Nauman Ali and Yasir Shah to leave the tourists on 179-6 at tea on the opening day of the first Test in Karachi on Tuesday.

The new entry Nauman Ali has dismissed the skipper Quinton de Kock (15) and Dean Elgar, struck his 16th Test half-century (58), as South Africa fumbled from a steady 94-2 at lunch.

The spinner Yasir Shah took 3 wickets.

Fast bowler Shaheen Afrdi took 2 wickets and Hassan took 1 wicket.

Two batsman were dismissed during the running between wickets.
