World must engage with Taliban to avert return of terrorism: Moeed Yusuf

The world needs to devise a system by which assistance can reach Afghanistan before winter, Moeed Yusuf has said, adding that Afghan men, women and children are in dire need of humanitarian assistance.

According to media reports, the National Security Advisor to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Dr. Moeed Yusuf has made these remarks while talking to a five-member United States (US) delegation headed by Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West in Islamabad on Friday.

On the occasion, Moeed Yusuf has emphasized that the world needs to engage constructively with Taliban to avert the risk of instability and return of terrorism. He said we are trying to make sure that the world understands the importance of not making the mistakes of the past again.

The National Security Advisor further stated that the gaps left by political vacuum and instability in Afghanistan would be beneficial for terrorist organisations. He said that stable and peaceful Afghanistan is not only in best interest of Pakistan rather the whole world.

During the meeting, Pakistan and United States agreed upon building strong bilateral ties based on mutual respect and showed determination to cooperate in all important areas.
