Ali Amin Khan Gandapur – the provincial President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) – has been elected as the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the media reports, the Leader and provincial President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Ali Amin Gandapur secured 90 votes during the session of the provincial assembly held in Peshawar today (Friday, March 1st). The candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz for the Chief Minister slot Ibadullah Khan secured 16 votes.

Speaking in the House after his election, the newly elected Chief Minister of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that efforts will be made to bring reforms in the system of justice and accountability in the province. He said laws will be enacted from this assembly to curb corruption in society.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur further stated that terrorism has badly affected the province and that efforts will be made for lasting peace. He said the new provincial government would expand the tax base to increase revenue collection. Tourism and mining will be promoted for the development of the province, he said, adding that job opportunities will be created for the youth.

In his remarks on this occasion, the opposition leader Ibadullah Khan said all-out cooperation would be extended to the government for the welfare of the people and province. He stressed the need for unity among political parties for the development of the country. He also congratulated Ali Amin Gandapur on becoming the leader of the House.
