Spokesperson Fatima Zahra Baloch said that Pakistan believes the state of bilateral relations with India should not stand in the way of fulfilling its international sports-related obligations. She said Pakistan’s decision shows its constructive and responsible approach vis-à-vis India’s intransigent attitude, as the latter had refused to send its Cricket Team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup.

The FO Spokesperson further stated that Pakistan, however, has deep concerns about the security of its Cricket Team. She said we are conveying these concerns to the International Cricket Council and the Indian authorities. We expect that the full safety and security of the Pakistan Cricket Team will be ensured during its visit to India.

On the other hand, the Chairman of the Management Committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf has said that Babar Azam will be the captain while Mickey Arthur will be the director in the Asia Cup and World Cup 2023. He said that the coaching staff will also be retained. He expressed his desire to play Pakistan India Jinnah Gandhi series on Ashes style. Jay Shah and BCCI will soon start the journey of a good relationship with PCB.
