Four days after its capture of Kabul from the Western-backed government, the creation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has been announced by the Taliban.
The creation of a new state has been announced by an official spokesman for the Taliban Zabiullah Mujahid in a Twitter post on Thursday.
The spkesman Zabiullah Mujahid also shared an image in which the flag of the emirate appears to be combined with its coat of arms. He said the foundation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan comes 102 years after Britain relinquished control over the country.

The Taliban spokesman further stated that August 19 is celebrated as a national holiday in Afghanistan, commemorating its independence from the colonial superpower.
It is to be mentioned here that the declaration comes less than a week after the fall of Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul.
