Injury of Naseem Shah is a big blow for us: Coach Morne Morkel

Morne Morkel – the bowling coach of the Pakistan Cricket Team – has said that the injury of fast bowler Naseem Shah is a big blow for us.

According to the media reports, Pakistani Bowling Coach Morne Morkel expressed his views while addressing a press conference in Colombo today (Wednesday, September 13). He said that fast bowlers have had fitness problems and there is an opportunity for other bowlers to take advantage of it.

On this occasion, Morne Morkel said that Shaheen Shah Afridi is a world-class bowler and I am happy with his presence. Shaheen Afridi is a bowling bowler with discipline, he said, adding that we had a plan in the match against India but it has not been implemented well.

“We have got an opportunity to improve some things, playing under pressure in an important match is beneficial. We will come back strong and we have high hopes for Shaheen Afridi. We can’t control injuries, they are part of the game,” Morne Morkel added.

Speaking about the new player who has joined the club, Zaman Khan, Morkel expressed his excitement to see Zaman Khan bowl. He also stated that the circumstances here are favorable for spinners and that our guys have the ability to return.

It is pertinent to mention here that Cricketer Zaman Khan replaced fast bowler Naseem Shah for the remainder of the Asia Cup 2023 due to his injury. The announcement was made by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a press release today. PCB said that Naseem had injured his right shoulder in this week’s match against India and continued to be monitored by the Pakistan team’s medical panel that was taking all necessary precautions keeping in mind the upcoming one-day international World Cup.

The Cricket Board further stated that Cricketer Zaman Khan joined the Pakistani team earlier today and would train with the squad in the evening at the R Premadasa Stadium.
