Mohsin Naqvi – the caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab – has vowed to restore all the churches and Christian homes within three to four days.

According to the media reports, Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi made these remarks while addressing a meeting, which was attended by religious leaders of the Christian community, today (Thursday, August 18). He vowed to restore all the churches and Christian homes within three to four days that were ransacked and torched during the Jaranwala violence yesterday.

On this occasion, the caretaker Chief Minister condemned yesterday’s violence and asserted that such incidents are anti-Islam and against the teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohammad [Peace Be Upon Him]. He said the mob-led attack was a conspiracy to light a fire in the country and sabotage its peace.

During the meeting, Bishop Lahore Nadeem Kamran also presented a joint communique and expressed the resolve that the Christian community will play its due role for peace in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government ordered the formation of a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the incident, in line with directives issued by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq.

Meanwhile, Punjab police said in a statement that they had made over 100 arrests while the Jaranwala police booked over 600 people in two terror cases.
